Rates, yields, investment cycle and VIC market

Nope, just that there's always reasons not to buy houses. If even I can make a dollar out of it, it can't be that hard. Are you saying Stockland is a proxy for the performance of the entire residential property market?

Rates, yields, investment cycle and VIC market

You inspired me to do this search: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=site%3Asomersoft.com+%22more+pain+to+come%22 Which results in warnings of all this incoming pain from as far back as 2003. How's that working for you?

    Renting vs Buying?

I'll cast my vote for "renting but getting a bit sick of it". Beginning to get old and fussy and want to update things as I would like them, or grow a decent garden etc. How did people (including Y-man) go from IP's only into a PPOR? Every time I think about it, it looks very expensive.

Westpac MD Gail Kelly says compound growth in house prices are over for good!

How long is unsustainable? I keep buying them and people keep renting them and covering my costs. Wouldn't want to be my landlord though, letting me rent such a fancy place in the inner city at 3% yield. Now THAT is unsustainable. Numbers are fun, but don't mistake the map for the territory.

    Salary Sacrifice IP Loan Interest

Hi, I'm wondering if I'm missing something about salary sacrificing IP loans interest - my employer offers this, but it seemed at first glance to not give me anything. Then I found this thread: http://somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34893 Where it was pointed out that the...

    I quit my job today......................

GG, have you considered importing bikes/parts and selling them on? A lot of cycling folk order parts from overseas as it is .. I am sure that by offering some markup and "delivery tomorrow" rather than "delivery in six weeks" you could make a little money. There are a lot of "repeat...

    interest rates

Thanks, I had not thought of it like that - that we are 85 % of the maximum way down. I must admit the end of the world sure seems slow in coming ;) The media/govt/ASX seems to pricing in a pretty steep rebound in actual growth in early 2010 .. is that your view as well?

    interest rates

Keith, In light of your thinking that there is little the RBA can effectively do to stimulate the economy, how do you feel about Alan Kohler's "Over to you Glenn" article? Over to you Glenn: http://www.businessspectator.com.au/bs.nsf/Article/Over-to-you-Glenn-pd20090513-RYS6P?OpenDocument...

Repayments on your PPOR Mortgage!! - How much per week ?

Can you outline these risks for me? I'm not sure how the LVR on my PPOR means anything to risk? Here's what I consider a risky scenario, all using low LVRs: Starting position: PPOR loan: 200k PPOR value: 350k LVR: 57% Cash on hand: 15k Borrow 50k secured by PPOR, to buy IP at 80%...

Our plan for our IP portfolio...what do you think?

Hi AA, You need to get in touch with the user "Our Obsession" - they have been at the regional Victoria game (quite successfully I believe) for some time now. While a lot of people on stages will tell you that real growth only happens in the inner suburbs, you should do your own research...

Fed up with spams in optus mail

No problem .. I went looking for you the other night and tonight .. it seems that Optus don't offer mail forwarding, according to a few posts on Whirlpool from 2006. I tried poking around the actual Optus site, but without an account to log into there's not much I can see. Good luck!

Westpac April & ANZ June 2009 report

Hi Michael, I have noticed that you are bullish on property over the next year or two - I'm wondering if you can outline what you think will happen over the next year or two in the broader economy? I have been reading too many bearish blogs, and I really can't see the end of the tunnel as...

Fed up with spams in optus mail

Similarly, On gmail you can use "+<anything>" on your email address, in much the same way. And dots don't count in gmail addresses, so you can use any variation on your username with dots. If your email is [email protected] then the following all would go to your account...

Fed up with spams in optus mail

I don't have an optus account to check with, but you should be able to set your optus email to forward to your new gmail account. That way you don't even need to "move" anything, or get people to change the email address they use. Just only ever reply from your gmail address, and over time...

    CBA Start the Rate cut

    CBA Start the Rate cut

Suncorp usually take a week to update their website to "under consideration.." and then a week after that they'll make an announcement of their cut, which is usually effective as of another fortnight. I was hoping for .2 from them, but maybe not with the way the majors have been going.

    China calls for supercurrency

I hoped you'd see this thread .. I remember you referring to "The Amero", if that's right? Did you come up with the idea this was coming from researching on the web? I would be interested in any links you have. Either proponents or detractors - it's such a new idea to me that I don't know how...
