Agent Disclosure

I have emailed an agent in Perth today asking him if another's buyers offer had been accepted which he said "No the vendor has rejected the offer", I than asked him what the offer amount was which he said he couldn't disclose due to "Privacy Laws"
Is this bull$&!? from the agent or is this factual?
I understand he can't give me their names etc but what about offered price?

Not sure of other States, however in Qld, when there is more than one buyer wanting to purchase, all offers are treated confidentially, and buyers are asked to put their best foot forward, and the seller will then negotiate with that party. It can go both ways, if the agent informs others, about a figure that was rejected. It does happen form time to time, that a seller regrets rejecting an offer, and then finds all subsequent ones are at a lower ammount. I take the view, that its called "private treaty" and keep it private.

Thanks all for reply....

My method is to go in below asking price and hopefully open up negotiations with regards to counter offer that is price specific.
