airfare tax deduction

Hi guys
I was wondering if the following was possible....
I am flying to Townsville to see the family and whilst there I was thinking about flying to Carins for the day to inspect my PPOR that's currently rented out. It's been rented for 12mths and I haven't inspected it yet.

Is the cost of the flight (and taxi) tax deductible even though I don't live in Twl? I know flights are tax deductible but I thought that was it was only from where you are currently living.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I think it would be deductible. You are not trying to claim any of the flights to Townsville- that would put any claims into doubtsville- your flight and cab fares are purely as a result of inspecting your property.

Let the agent know beforehand though- tenants require notice.

thanks geoff
i have my flight to crns and organised an inspection....and luckily my flight to twl from drwn needn't be in doubtsville :) b'cos work paid for that

i will be on hols as of tomorrow arvo...yeah
