-Close meeting for networking.

Everyone interested in property or the forum is welcome to come along. (Having an IP is not a pre-requisite, only a motivation to do so.)

Why don't you bring along a friend! (I am sure that we all know someone who can benefit in talking with other like minded people.)

(Remember networking is all about coming along and saying hello. Don’t be afraid to say hello to others there – You never know how it might help your IP journey. ;) )

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Sunstone (Shane).

What is BIG?

“Brisbane’s first choice for investment property networking and information.”

BIG (Better Investing Group Inc.) is a not-for-profit group of like minded people who meet monthly to network and share information about property investment.

Hi Sunstone, this looks like it may actually work for me as I have missed the last couple by days.

I might be able to get there :D without too many dramas.

Dear DD1,

Good to hear. Hope to see you there. :)

Cheers,

Sunstone.

G'day all,

I caught up with NickM a couple of times in Sydney. Well worth catching him in Bne while you can. Especially if you have an interest in Hybrid Trusts.. And "current issues"?? Well, we can never have too much information on those !!

I'm currently still in Bne, so I'll be there (but not for much longer, the way things are shaping for me). Back to Syd soon it seems....

Regards,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the meeting Tuesday but by a fortunate coincidence I saw Nick M at Steve Navra's course yesterday. Not knowing anything about trusts he lost me pretty quickly but I'd say what he doesnt know about trusts for asset protection (esp for property) isnt worth knowing. Bring lots of questions and I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

cheers Sharyn S

Sailesh,

There was about 70+ people at the BIG Meeting last night - BIGgest crowd to-date.

I thought Nick's presentation was great. He described the many different Investment Structure options, with the main focus on Trusts. I liked the way he used the whiteboard to explain each Trust option - he drew a picture of each Structure as he moved across the whiteboard allowing us to compare that Structure to the previous ones he covered. He spoke for well over an hour and took questions throughout his presentation. He went at a pace that most, if not all, of us could keep up with.

The other really good thing was that he handed to everyone a 29 page document that covered each Structure in detail so that we could listen to him and then take the document away to digest and as a refresh.

It was a real pity you couldn't make it. Hopefully, we see you at the March meeting (29 March). Kevin Hockey (a Forum member) will be presenting - I have seen Kevin present previously and he is fantastic. I would strongly recommend that everyone come to see Kevin talk. Details to be posted on this Forum in a couple of weeks.

Sailesh,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes was a good turn out, close to 70 attended.

NickM was a good presenter, explaining things well, and managing to cover a fair bit of ground.

Bonus was that everyone who attended received a free 30 pg manual that NickM had just finished putting together. Great as a reference tool.

One nuisance was that when questions were asked of NickM, some people didn't use the microphone as requested earlier by Kieran.
I mention this because hopefully at future meetings it will become the norm to use the mic so everyone can hear!!!
Especially as numbers are on the rise.

all and all you missed a good night :)

A86,

You are right about questions without the use of microphones - during networking, I received a number of similar comments as well - especially from people down the back as most questioners asked their questions while facing the front and their voices did not project down the back. This is exactly why we have microphones - so that we don't have this problem.

I tried hard to enforce microphone usage last night but to no avail - may be, we need to instruct the presenters not to answer questions unless they were asked via a microphone. In this way, everyone hears the questions and we can control the quality of the meeting - everyone wins!!!

Wow!!

Sounds like I missed out on a great event. I will definately make the next meeting.

As a serious investor and developer for me it is vital that I have a finger on the pulse of the vibrant Brisbane market.

Geez Keiran, your making me nervous :D Thanks mate (I'll pay you later )

I'm looking forward to it. It'll be an open session and I will answer ANY question asked of me. I'll be looking to provide everyone with information which will enpower you in the processes of real estate transactions. From what to do and what not to do through to little known facts which will ensure you end up with more dollars in your pocket from the negotiation process.

No doubt Property Management may be a controversial topic. For this reason my Property Manager will be attending also. She is a recent Australian Property Manager of the Year and has over 20 years experience in real estate management. There's not much she doesn't know. You will be able to speak with her throughout the night also.

Should be entertaining and informative. See you there.

You'll often see well trained Presenters repeat the question to the audience.. its a great technique that audiences really appreciate.. It's also a technique that Presenters can use when they need a few secs to compose themselves for an answer..

Duncan,

I agree with you - use these "tricks" myself :D

But, I can think of a number of instances where it doesn't work all that well. For example:

1. If the questioner gives some background prior to the actual question, it is a bit tough for the presenter to remember all of the background as well as repeat the question (and come up with an answer). Just repeating the question may not work.

2. The questioner asks the question (long or short); the presenter repeats the question but gets it wrong; then the questioner asks it again but in a slightly different way; the presenter tries to repeat the question but gets it wrong again; ............ Next thing, the questioner is embarassed, the presenter becomes confused and the rest of the audience are p.ssed off.

If the questioner simply uses the microphone, no problems!!!

Use powerpoint please

Well I had no problems hearing all the questions and I was at the back of the room. I did however have trouble seeing what was written on the whiteboard, still I could have always moved my chair closer if I wanted.

An interesting evening and very well attended.

All right for you young blokes ;) I was also at the back, and would've appreciated more use of the mike.

Agree with you wholeheartedly re the whiteboard (green was especially hard to see - but then, my eyes ain't what they used to be either :D )

Still, overall I didn't miss that much.... And the presentation from Nick was eye-opening, to say the least.

And thanks, Nick, for the "followup" manual - it'll see some good use, for sure,

Regards,
