Broadband Availability - is it important?

Reliability.

We live in the mountains 1 hr west of Melbourne CBD.

You only get ADSL1 and only a few suppliers offer it becasue telstra limits the points. We also found the reliablity poor. And you need power to make it work. Blackout are not uncommon.

So we recently dumped ADSL for Wireless Telstra at $89 for 5G (free usb modem). Yes high but Telstra always works, anywhere in Victoria or NSW, back of no-where.

If you travel a lot and need to be sure of connection for business then consider that above $.

We would dump our landline for mobile except older family call us for 1hour and chat, and we need to fax occasionally.

I wouldn't stay in a place without the ability to connect to ADSL2+. It's like moving back in back in times!

It's unbelievable that even in Melbourne, one of the worlds most livable cities and yet most of suburbs (esp West) has poor infrastructures for good internet!

At least give a deadline when it'll be roll out?
