builder's warranty transfer

Hi all,

A friend of mine is buying a new house from an indivdual vendor. The house is just completed and handed over to the vendor by the builder.
The question is how the builder's structural & appliances warranty (7 yrs for structurals?) is transferred from vendor to the buyer? Does he need to notify the builder that he has bought the house and get a confirmation from the builder stating that the warranty has been transferred to him? Or....is it automatically transferred?

The builders warranty covers structual, like, slab, footings, trusses and frames, it covers the home regardless who owns it, the builder needs not to know who now own it , but the owner needs to know who the builder is , just incase,
