Challenging the Valuer Generals valuation in NSW

If you buy a property at arms length and it is land only is it a simple process to convince the vg that this should be the value he prescribes to it?

Has anyone been through this process for either land (presumably simpler) or a house (a bit more challenging as the dwelling value may be controversial)?

Yes
You will need to lodge an objection statng your reasons eg purchase price within the prescribed period of time after issue of your land tax notice or notice of valuation.
