Pete,W.
imho,
you will not need a solicitor to make the complaint,i don't know what happens
in NSW,but in QLD they take this very serious when you make a written
complaint about any legal person and what they get up too, never give up..
good luck

A bit like complaining about your wife to your M'Inlaw.

A survey would say 99% of respondants are unhappy, unless it included Allan Bond, in which case it would drop to 98%

brilliant....absolutely brilliant.....
imagine working for the "solicitors complaints dept/ombudsman".
worlds busiest job!!
i wonder if they charge for photocopying and postage at $200 a page also ?

Richard,
that depends on who writes the complaint, and what is behind them..

I don't know about solicitors- but the police are scrupulous about investigating police. The police force I used to work for had a section devoted to investigating complaints against police. Nobody who worked in that section was very popular. Any complaint, no matter how frivolous, and no matter who was making the complaint, was investigated seriously.

Lawyers disciplining lawyers ??!! sounds like one long lunch to me, loser picks up the tab. More payola.

Unfortunately, self-regulation is a flawed concept - it cannot avoid the influences of vested interests ; rather like Dracula minding the bloodbank.

But, there may be some idealistic and scrupulous ones somewhere who want to maintain the good name of lawyers.

Comedian Robyn Williams tells a lawyer joke in the movie "Hook", saying that they're using lawyers now for scientific experiments, because there are some things now even lab rats won't do.

Crest,

this isn't the NSW Law Society disciplining lawyers. The complaint goes to the Legal Services Commission...a separate body (established by the State government).

By the way would it be appropriate for a non-IT specialist (say a baker) to assess a complaint against an IT specialsit where it is alleged the IT specialist was negligent in not rectifying a crashed computer network?
