Deck with a step or deck the same level?

Hi Guys,
I have a bit of a dilemma with building a deck.

1. Build a deck at the same level as the rest of the house; (preferred option)
2. Build a deck that requires us to step down onto it.

Is there much difference value wise? Aesthetically Option1. would look better however we would have to advertise and take 60 days, neighbours could reject etc..... or we just change the plans and go with option 2.

Thanks in advance,

Hi there,
Council said there has to be a 1.8 meter high visual barrier.
If we built the deck at the proposed height it may overlook a neighbors property.
Thanks for the quick response!

Ok, how many steps down?

If it's just one then Id go for that if it makes it easier to get thru.

In fact we are doing just that on PPOR soon as it will give us more head height if we wish to cover the deck later. One step down is no biggie.;)

Just check the levels from the roof line and see if you have enough fall for the roof area to work if there is not enough fall then you may have to use the drop with the step to run the roof water..imho..

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the responses.
Yes it will be 1 step down and we will be going with this option as it will be easier to get through the council.
Thanks guys
Cheers,
