FHOG- Building

Hi guys,

First time poster/investor.

I recently settled on a piece of land in Klemzig,SA.
Just wondering if anyone knows in order to receive the 25k from the govt do I have to have the foundations laid before 30th June or do I just have to have had a building contract signed??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not to sure - I think it is contracts. But talk to your laywer / conveyencor and clarify with them.

I say contracts, because we missed out on this because they introduced the increase one month after us first signing contracts.

To get the full FHOG+FHOB (i.e. $21K) you must have signed your building contract after the 14 October 2008.

Usually the $21,000 will come on the first base stage (thats how it works in Tasmania).

But with the govt yet to announce whether or not they will extend the grant do you know if a contract has to be signed or slab has to be laid b4 June 30th?

The govt has pretty much said that it won't be extending the increase.

The amount of the grant is dependent on when the contract was signed. In construction projects, it is paid when when the slab is laid (first progress payment).

says....

The First Home Owners Boost Scheme applies to contracts dated between 14 October 2008 and 30 June 2009 (inclusive). For owner builder's construction must have commenced between those dates.

Guess it's contracts unless you are an owner builder?
