FHOG - Do you have to announce it in Tax?

Hi All,

Just a quick question so I don't get caught out while I am doing my first tax since I got my PPOR.

1) Do I need to declare the FHOG on my tax at all? I assume it was tax free?

2) Nothing to do with my PPOR is tax deductible is it? (It's just me living there, has been my PPOR since I bought it - not a rental)

No, but if you take in a renter who pays you at market rent you could claim apportioned expenses.
