Help needed with peeling paint on ornate ceiling

Without seeing a photo (which would be great), I'd suggest peeling off any loose plaster, back to where it is firmly attached. You'll need to lightly sand the edges and you might need to use some plaster to fill any larger areas or spakfilla for smaller "holes". Then a three in one sealer, primer, undercoat and top coat ceiling white.

That's pretty much what I've done with ceilings in the past. Also, paint in a matt finish to hid as much of the "repairs" as you can.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to get a picture up tomorrow. I'm guessing there could be a leak in the roof that is contributing to this....

I have the same question

I have the same question. I have an ornate ceiling which could be possibly made from horse hair. the property was built approx 100 years ago and has stayed in the one family.

The Ceiling in the living room is beautiful but suffers from peeling paint... everywhere.

Any tips on restoring this beautiful artwork would be appreciated.
