Abbreviations (acronyms) have been well covered. But you can see message icons when you replay to a post, or make a new post. There's a section there- "Message Icon"- which is set to "no icon" by default- You can see the options by floating the cusrosr over an icon. I've set the icon for this message to be "cool"- for illustration purposes only.

all of the above I've managed to get but the one that gets me and I know it will be sooooo simple when I know it but what in the hell is... wait for it.... BTW!

Thanks to everyone that helped me with the abbreviations

It denotes threads in which you have posted.

It makes it easier to track threads that you have been participating in.

asy :D

If you look right down the bottom of a thread list for any forum (eg. http://www.somersoft.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=21 - then scroll right down the bottom), you will see a legend describing the different envelope types.

They are:

newfolder.gif
"New Posts"
folder.gif
"No New Posts"
newhotfolder.gif
"New Posts and More than 10 replies or 350 views" (hot thread)
hotfolder.gif
"No New Posts and More than 10 replies or 350 views" (hot thread)
lockfolder.gif
"Closed Thread" (closed by the administrators so no more posts allowed)

Note that the "10 replies or 350 views" is configurable by the administrators - so these figures may actually change.

Hi Sim,

As I come across further acronyms and abbreviations I'd like to add them to my original post but when I try I get this alert: The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 2880 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator to make alterations on your message.

Regards, Mike
