Is This The Cheapest House In Australia???

I thought it would be interesting to find out what price a house on a block of land would start at in each state in Australia - found these doing a quick search on www.realestate.com.au - not relocatables, or house only for sale, or cabins - real houses on blocks of dirt. Has anyone else seen homes recently THIS CHEAP! I'm not looking at buying one of these houses; but I thought it was interesting to see how cheap some houses are when you look at the median house price in some cities or larger towns around Australia.

Check these out:

Interestingly no houses under $45,000 in NT or ACT

Had to smile when I saw the QLD house.

I have spent many years around Dirranbandi as a youth.

Might just ask my Dad about some historic prices from Dirranbandi resi property next time I talk to him. The population had been in steady decline last time I heard, which isn't great for prices you would imagine. Also the quality of tenant you might get is also an issue. The real wealth is outside the town on the stations, I grew up on 30k acres which is a decent chunk of land, the town is just the support centre.

Just talked to my mum about Dirranbandi (the QLD cheapie) and the locals say the town is dying, now the cotton isn't going so well.

It's been a few months since I looked... there was still plenty of stuff under 200 between the Gold Coast and Brisbane if you just want to get into the market somewhere and aren't fussed about walking to the CBD and the coffee shops.

Raise the tax brackets by a large margin, lower the tax rates and maybe add some seasoning with methods such as limiting depreciation and deductions to clip the negative gearing benefits of IP's... This might be one method to reduce demand in the marketplace. Thankfully for all those of us who own property the pollies keep talking about methods to reduce the crisis by stimulating demand... god bless em.

It's good that they mention the SA one is an above ground home.
I'm sure they have them, but never seen a picture of a below ground home.
