i use the little dymo, i use it for everything looks so much neater i don't care if everyone does make fun of me. I dislike the ABC keyboard versus the QWERTY layout of its bigger brother but its not for typing essays. I use the paper labels for filing and plastic for everything else.
Try and get one with a few spare rolls in the pack they are the pricey part!

I used to have a Brother labelmaker. It was fun. You really do need those extra sticky paper refill thingies as once you've got one you'll want to label everything.
But don't label anything if you have small children. Mine went through and systematically peeled the labels off absolutely everything I ever labelled.
