Lavender Hedge - spacing

Can you advise how I should evenly space my lavender bushes for my hedge?

I have a bed dug out for a lavender hedge already.
Bought 8 lavender bushes. Want to plant 7 and keep one in a pot as "insurance" to fill in if needed.

Bed runs 560cm

Want 1st and last hedge 30cm in from edge. (allow for spread so doesn't encroach on neighbour/own driveway)

Can someone tell me the spacings for the others.

Shanks fokes!

How does 83cm sound?
Amy

I tried 81cm in my initial calculations.

If you space the 1st one in 30 cm and each subsequent one 81cm hence the last one is placed 516cm along. It should sit at 610cm from left hand side (remember, I want 1st and last 30cm in from the edge)
640 - 30 = 610

So I calculated 610 - 30 = 580 cm of space to do the remaining ones.

580/5= 116cm along from 1st lavender plant. But that doesn't work out either!

Anyone? CAD operators? Designers?

Well, since I have an uneven number now, guest I just put in the lhs one, the rhs one, Measure to the middle, Put one in.

Then just space two either side of the halfway point and the end.

Uneven number makes it easier. Initial calc was for 8 lavender plants.

Who votes for "put them all in".

Who votes for "keep one as insurance"

Green thumbs pse what say you?

wish-ga,
Garden length = 560cm....plants available = 7
Plant one at each end, 30cm from each end.
You now have 5 plants left to cover a distance of 500cm..(560-30-30)
Five plants will give you SIX equal spaces.
500cm / 6 = 83cm approx
So, 30cm+(83*6)+30cm = 560cm approx
How does that sound now?

Syd has a few days of overcast/rain forecast. Perfect for planting. Don't want to put them in only to have the fry and dry.

Spacing - thx for heads up gals.

I will let you know how I go!

I wouldnt worry about one for 'insurance' - I find they tend to self sow after some time so you will have a couple of extra little plants popping up from time to time.

I also find they can go woody after a few years at which time mine are pulled out and replaced with younger plants.
