Laying Laminate Flooring - slab preparation

Hi all,

I am going to be installing my laminate flooring this weekend and just had the following questions:

1: When removing the old carpets, I noticed one or two areas which have white deposits. Is this serious and would it need to be treated? (I will send some pics shortly)

2: Do you need to test and treat your slab for moisture?

3: Should you fill little holes in your slab?

Kind regards,
Robbie

If there is a lot of moisture in the slab I would rethink using laminate flooring because when it gets wet it buckles because it only has a mdf backing on it. You should address the moisture in the slab and see why there is a lot of moisture. If you go ahead with the laminate make sure you use a good quality underlay and make sure the slab is clean from debris first

Thanks for that. How do you know or measure your moisture levels?

I got the Quietstep Acoustic Underlay, which is supposed to pretty good I'm told.

Is there anything else I could do?

Attached is an image. The area seems very dry though. Should i be concerned?

Its only one small area in the whole room, which is in the WIR.
