Update: took everyones advice, got a second quote $700 recommended by the agent, Tree removed without a problem

was he a qualifited tree removalist, probably not

did he do a good job, yes

everyone is happy

Sigh. $700 is good. Even $2000 is good. Had two quotes for a large gum over powerlines to next door - minimum is just over $3000

Im paying $6k + costs to remove high voltage power lines.

Circa $10k job in metro Sydney.

Tree is large and fat, arborist said it would have been around when the aborigines were on the land.

It would take probably three people linking hands to circle the tree.
