Low income tax offset and super co-contribution

Can the low income tax offset and super co-contribution be claimed where your PAYG salary has been reduced via negative gearing?

I have read the info on the ATO web site regarding their definition of 'Total Income' for the super co-contribution, but the rules look pretty complex. I'd hate to make an extra super contribution only to find out I wasn't eligible.

Thanks.

When co-contribution came in i was confused as whether i would get and even got told by a staff member in call centre i wouldnt.
Year in question they must have allowed my ajusted income as my straight payg was too high. I continued to recieve in last couple of years.

I personally thought would be like centrelink with family payment and nett rental property losses which actually get added back on to your taxable income

cheers

Good question Poppy,

I was wondering the same thing as well.

I read somewhere recently though that they count accessable income rather than taxable income. (Bummer!)

Hope someone can clarify further??

Regards Jason.
