Melbourne's proposed new East-West link freeway

Makes me think this will have sizeable knock-on effects for most suburbs surrounding the Eastern freeway. I'm thinking Doncaster, Box Hill, Blackburn, Nunawading, Mitcham. We could see a good 15-20 minutes cut from CBD commute times for these suburbs (cutting out the Hoddle st car park).

Is anyone else focusing on suburbs in this corridor?

Aren't these areas already linked by the Eastern Freeway at Tram Rd, Doncaster Rd etc? Unless you actually need to commute west.

widening of roads around the tram road area - i don't think will help much they need to do more coming into hoddle street.

used to stay in doncaster - at certain times it could take 3 hours to get to the airport.

This road has more disadvantages than advantages. There is more opposition than support. The govt did not make this an election promise either.

And it failed to make the infrastructure australia priority list so will probably not get off the ground for a few years yet

I should correct this - heard yesterday that this is going to EOI next month and tender by the end of the year
