New development/existing tenants

Am thinking seriously of pulling down an old house and putting 3 units on the block. I have fabulous long term tenants in on a month by month basis, which I would obviously like to keep as long as possible. As it would be at least l yr probably 18mths before I can get this through council and I need to get a site context survey done to start with, would anyone has any ideas what story I could tell the tenants so they wouldnt up and leave. I know they could afford to buy a house themselves but stay because of the size of the house and living next door to a relative
 
Tell them you are getting the property surveyed.

If they ask what are your plans, tell them that you are considering your options and any discession wont affect you for 18 months if at all.

Be upfront, after all it your property.


You can always get another tenant
