Opening up a youth centre and issues around money

Hi guys, wasnt to sure which section i should put this in.

But this question is more on the hypothetical lines.

Say i want to rent out a place to open up a youth centre. This will be DA approved hopefully and I will have programs for the youth in there, sports, courses, lectures etc etc.

My main question is along the funding part. Now assume the centre grows and we start getting money from donations, functions or fundraising etc, and im assuming most of it will be black money which i will use to pay the rent, maintenance, pay workers etc.

Since alot of the money will be cash, do i still have to register a business name, get a ABN, get a separate bank account, Pay GST or BAS, apply for a Non-profit organisation status and so forth?

And if i do,why do i need these things?

Honestly, not being a smart ***, just want advice from people who may have experince in the field.
