Posting copyrighted material

Just a reminder that you are not allowed to post copyrighted material on the forums.

This is especially the case for material which is provided by subscription only on other sites and is reproduced in full on our site ... we can get into serious legal trouble for permitting material like this to be published, so please don't post it.

I have no problems with you quoting a small part of an article or news item from another site under "fair use" guidelines, provided that you provide full attribution - provide a link to the source and note that it is a quote and not your own writing.

Republishing an entire article is just not on.

As I said, you may link to an article online and quote a small part of the contents (I suggest you quote the introduction, not the conclusion) under "fair use" provisions for copyright.

You could also summarise the contents of the article in your own words.
