Property Tax, How to pay?

I have an IP in Fremantle, western Australia, and after my partner and I separated I retained the property which is getting rented out.

My question is, do I need to pay tax for the property each year, Land tax I think they call it.

If I do need to pay this tax, will the tax department find me or do I wait for the accountant to determine how much I have to pay.

If the account can not help do I need to go direct to the tax department, if that’s what I have to do, can anyone give me a phone number or link..

many thanks

HI
Search for the office of state revenue or do land tax search in WA at a guess with 1 property you will be below the threshold but I havnet got anything in WA

land tax is a state tax, the ato is federal - and never the twain shall meet.

if you need to pay land tax, the office of state revenue (that looks after state tax) will send the bill to the registered taxation address of the owner.

thank you for your feed back, I don't want to leave it for a couple of years and then all of a sudden the tax man say, Buy the way you owe... + expences.

So I'll try the web site again
