Public Trust ownership issues.

Has anyone had anything to do with public trust.

Have a relative who was awarded compensation 40 years ago as a small
child and their mother had this placed into the care of public trust.
later on a property was purchased with the funds.

This property has become unsuitable for them and we have been trying'
to have public trust sell the current property and purchase another closer
to family but they seem to think they are the owners and they will advice
us what to do whether they rent current property out, so relative would have to
rent closer to family but at the same time receive rental income so will generate an
income who is on the pension.(yes seems silly but their words)

Is it possible to have the property removed from public trust ownership.

Sounds like they are the owners! ie the trustee is the legal owner of the property.

What are the terms of the trust, is there a trust deed for example? If there is one beneficiary and that beneficiary is not under a legal disability then that beneficiary could ask for the property to be transferred to themselves - probably demand this. But it all depends on the terms of the trust.

As a last resort an application could be made to the Supreme Court.
