qld bulding services authority act 1991 section 47 warning notice

I am in the process of purchasing a property in QLD. The very first page of the contract has a warning notice saying "extensions/additions" carried out by the owner builder are not covered by insurance under the QLD building services authority act 1991.

Should I be worried? There is no detailed information about what building work was done - all it says "extensions /addition". What more checks should I do?

While I am there, if someone could also recommend a good solicitor in the Logan area for this purchase?

many thanks in advance

Hi

Any works constructed by the owner builder are not covered by building insurance. Building insurance lasts for 7 years.

If you pm me the address I will see if I can find anything for you on the council's system and then answer back through here sans identifying info.
