My experience is it's pretty bloody hard to get a builder at the moment. The first time I spoke to my builder we were going to start work in March at my place to raise the house and renovate. So far it's now June but blowing out all the time.
A mate of mine had a guy start building his house last year in April and was to move in, in August. He ended up moving in, in February this year. I do know a few builders but they are all snowed under, some aren't even taking work. My guy can't get carpenters and his painters won't even quote any more.
Hard part is if you can find anyone available you have to ask yourself why.
