San Francisco legalises AirBnB

Dying industry ??

You referring to the USA ? Emerging from recession where travel has been constrained. Economists predict growth...

Most Hotels use price modelling that charges less when demand falls and more when demand rises. A simple trip to Vegas gives that experience. Most majors on the strip can charge as low as $30 midweek and $300+ on a Sat night. As far as suggesting hotels trying to keep people out these sorts of laws occur all over the world and predate A BnB. eg Central Coast Council doesn't allow short term accom rentals AT ALL (but they exist in abundance). NY City has never allowed short term rents. On other hand, Vegas you cant reside for more than 4 weeks in a hotel... You must leave for one night.

Air BnB is no game changer. Its just another option. Its a "modern" version of a B&B.

Dying industry ??

Slowly dying, yes. I was listening to a podcast by a business guy who was telling a story about his experience staying a hotel. He was in the U.S.

He mentioned about how they are upping charges on certain things to account for the loss of revenues due to sites lie AirBNB.

If the hoteliers weren't feeling threatened, they wouldn't be petitioning pollies to try and force enterprising people out.
