Singapore trip

Hi All,

I am planning to head down to Singapore for 1 week break. (early next month)

I would like to seek people's opinion who have been there for a holiday

Attractions, discount coupons, travel ideas, bring it on SS forum travellers.

Go for a wander down the main street in the Indian quarter - some fairly interesting and cheap stuff around. Also, do have a poke around the Arabic quarter, a very different feel and quite interesting.

The Night Zoo is always a goer, too. If you get bored, catch the bus up to KL for a day (and a night).

Sentosa Island for something a bit Gold Coasty.

Check out Marina Bay, it's amazing.

Mustafa Centre in Little India, crazy place.

Orchard Road and get yourself lost in the many underground shops.

China Town for some excellent satay at Leo Garden at 195 New Bridge Rd and then the markets in Pogoda Street for some interesting/useless knick knacks.

Agree on 328 for Laksa.
Little India for dinner one night - there's a few places that look dodgy as but the food is amazing
Mustafa at 4am with your own ipods to dance in the stereo section
Sentosa island
Mt Faber - great for hiking - do the long walk from Harbour front or Labrador Park
Kayaking or kite flying at Marina Bay Barrage
Sands Casino (chocolate buffet is a great way to do the top and have a sweet night out)
The new Marina Bay Gardens
Changi Museum
Chili crab at one of the bay restaurants
Hawker markets
Clarke Quay
See the Merlion
Check out listings when you get there of lots of free festivals, art shows, outdoor entertainment (especially around Marina Bay and Marina Gardens)
Cable Car to Sentosa (sunset is a great time and they often have midweek deals - cable car, popcorn and can of drink - good to tack onto the end of the Mt Faber walk)

Get an SMRT card on the first day when you get to the airport - makes it much easier to get around

Love Singapore - always eat too much but also walk, run and ride lots

Loved Singapore. Make sure you have some chilli crab, and try to hop onto the Singapore Flyer for a great view. You must also have a Singapore Sling at Raffles where you can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. For shopping go to the big shopping centre near the casino.:D

If your taking your wife...try and fork out the S$100 or so for high tea at Raffles too:). It is just one of those "things" that us girls can mark off our bucket list :)

Breakfast with the orangutans at the zoo is cool too.

Have you booked your flights yet?

I came back from Singapore just 2 weeks ago, daughter and I flew with Scoot.
http://www.flyscoot.com/index.php/en/

Sydney-changi for $984 return for the both of us :). Good flight ...boeing 777..
Only fault was that they don't supply water, so be prepared to fork out $4.00 for a bottle of water, or take your own bottles and fill them once you are airside.

Moyjos - we flew Scoot in September - return airfares, baggage, meals etc for two of us was $680 (for two of us - so $340AUD each return).

Would skip the meals - hit the hawker market in T3 at Changi airport instead (basement level). take own snacks from Oz. Use refillable bottles onboard for water and take own entertainment or book. Also if you purchase a non sale fare and get to airport early you can upgrade to Scoot biz for $90AUD if there's any biz seats left.

Our flight left slightly late (around an hour) but we still managed to fit in a three course meal at three different restaurants around Singapore before flying onto KL two hours 45 later.

Seems like such a wonderful MAD (mother and daughter) time at a fantastic price Must plan another trip soon. Singapore is a great spot for a short holiday.

Depends on your interest. If you are both an adventure and nature lover you can visit their Mega Trip Adventure Park in Sentosa. Or try the Singapore flyer if you want to see the panoramic view of their colorful and vibrant city.

It is :). That is what did. Had a great time... 4days Singapore (eating) then 4 days HK (shopping ). Went over with carry on only. Came back with excess baggage :)

Singapore

Hiya

Apart from the list above, i like the

a) Singapore Zoo
b) Wet Wet Wild (or is it Wild Wild Wet).....out in East Coast-bring your swimmers...

Did anyone mention Clarke Quay and Boat Quay at night?
And curry crab at East Coast Parkway?

Also if you love your food, don't forget to buy a copy of "Makan Sutra" -makan means "eat" in local lingo and just follow directions to get the best (not necessary expensive:p) food in Singapore...

On my last trip, my sister met me at the airport with 1 kg of bak kwa (barbecued pork..very very expensive here but cheap la in Singapore)...we then proceeded to munch through it all before i checked out of the airport:eek:boy! was that good!
