Skin Care/Beauty/Health Products

I buy high quality and its always cheaper off amazon and eBay usually

I dated a skin specialist for a while and she put me on to all this stuff, couldn't believe the difference it made

What products do you use.
I forgot, another favourite moisturizer is Hopes Relief. It has honey (antibacterial), aloe Vera, licorice root, etc in it.

I had awful acne as a teen and for once karma has been good to me. I still have lots of holes in my face but my skin apparently looks much younger than my real age. I used to wear Amway moisturiser for about 20 years then gave up when I discovered bio oil. I rub it around my eyes, and also apply sorbeline cr?mes whenever I walk past a bottle. I too keep it everywhere in the house.

I use cold press virgin coconut oil ( $20/2 litres at health shop) for face massage, as face and body moisturiser in winter ( tiny bits) and for hair (with organic honey/lemon) as deep hair treatment ( it works wonder).

I also use fresh aloe vera for face and hair too, make the skin tighten, feels good.

If you google on homemade organic facial/body care there are lots of recipes.

A bottle of coconut oil last for 6 months if not 1 year.

I use Johnson and Johnson 'Clean and Clear' facial wash, toner and moisturiser. They come in 100ml bottles and can be purchased from supermarkets as a 3-pack for about $14. I love them, but each person's skin is unique so it's trial and error until you find the products that are right for you.

Except for the usual spots in the teenage years, I've always had good skin. I never wore sunscreen, hats, etc when I was younger though and I've had a couple of sun spots burnt off my nose but no scars or discolouration were left. I've never smoked, only drink socially and drink lots of water every day though so perhaps this helps?

I think it really comes down to genes. I'm told I look younger than I am (people are so kind/good at lying :D).

Dont shoot the messenger but her view was,

Different skin products for different skin types preferably detemined by a professional

Anything that could be bought from myer or a supermarket should be avoided ( however I thought biotherm was excellent)?

Dermalogica for men
For woman priori

Interesting, thanks. My sis is a beauty therapist so I get you regarding skIn type. Never heard of Priori before but looked it up. Exy - would want to be good! :) Most of what I usE is from a chemist with as little preservatives, chemicals, perfumes as possible.
Coffee/alcohol/water consumption/diet are all important.

I've had people my age say things like 'when you're my age' and i've thought they must be older than they look, but it's turned out they think I'm much younger.

Both of my parents have/had great skin.

Father in particular had hardly any wrinkles when he tuned 70.

I have hardly any and because my skin develops oil quickly I wash with ordinary soap and water twice a day, with no ill effect.

I think skin that produces little natural oil loses skin condition and elasticity much quicker.

Interestingly even with oily skin I had fine pimples on my forehead only for a brief period as a teen.

Always protected my face too when sunbaking or when out in the sun in those younger years because i had the potential to go very dark quickly and I didn't like that on me.

Lucky. That possibly gave my face a few years as well.

My maternal grandmother's face looked like a prune.

My mother smoked and also owned and worked in greenhouses for a number of years, so her face always was tanned....she looks less of a prune..but still wrinkly.

I always said when I turned 47 I was going to have a facelift.
When I arrived there 6 years ago, I decided I didn't want one.
I never smoked, and don't purposely sunbake, but don't avoid the sun either.
I will let nature take its course..if people don't like my wrinkles...they can look elsewhere. :)

I am like kathryn.. don't "use" anything. Growing up I was not allowed to wear makeup at all, so i just never got into it. I had one boss try to make me wear makeup for a back office job, and I informed him that I would ,when he did :p

We use what ever soap is on sale at the supermarket and I have a small stash of body wash stuff that invariably arrives as "stuff" at birthdays/christmas.
On the very rare occasion I do wear make up, it feels HORRIBLE, and I want to wash my face clean after a couple of hours.

I don't use sunscreen either (again it just makes me feel yuck) I have a couple of fishing SPF 50 long sleeve shirts if I know we are going to be out for a while.

I agree that people are good at lying.. as I also get told I look Ok for my age...It usually comes up when I mention my kids ages and they are shocked that i could be "that old "

While I am not an expert on these things my girlfriend swears by the stuff in the USA compared to what you can get locally here. BB Cream and the like.

I don't spend a huge amount on skin care but I am pretty picky with hair products. I have curly/wavy hair and order shampoo, condition, leave in conditioner and curl cream from an American online store. The items are actually not that expensive individually but I do buy a few at once to save on the shipping costs. They are definitely better than similarly prices items I've tried locally.

Coconut oil.

Can rub it into skin, use it to cook with, has high temp rating, tastes great in anything. Pure Natural ingredient.

Make sure you all get some sun on your body or you will be Vit D deficient.

It is something that more and more people are becoming deficient in because they are covering up too much.

Rubbing chemicals into skin every day can't be good.

Vitamin D is added to our milk in Canada.

My biggest luck with my skin has been that I have always always always hated being in the sun.

Even in the 70's where it was cool to be "black" as we used to say then about the girls with a really good suntan, I was the odd one out.

I clearly remember my friends sunbaking but I was perched somewhere behind them under a big tree!!

I still detest being in the sun and have to take vitamin D as a result but my skin is pretty darn good :p. Also during my young years I was very lazy about applying creams, removing makeup etc, but not being in the sun saved me I think.

My honest opinion is that if you are willing to spend money on Microdermabrasion every two months you can use whatever creams you want. Microdermabrasion sloughs off all the dead skin cells that build up and gives you a fresh palette so to speak.

Don't waste your money on facials. All they are doing is putting lots of creams on you, rubbing them in and making you feel nice. You need a Micro to get rid of those dead skin cells.

oh yes I have just found out that having about 30ml of Coconut Oil a day helps give you amazing skin. I have noticed I need to use less cream now as my skin is so moist (in a good way). It is also fabulous for hair treatments and can be used as a moisturiser (although I don't).

Just Google it up and see for yourself!!:)
