Subdividing a triplex/quadruplex in stages, is it possible, share your experience

Hi All

I would like to know if subdividing a property (triplex) in stages is possible, and what are the extra costs like and things to keep in mind.

The main reason I see is being able to live in the first one while the others are being constructed, provided possible CGT benefits.

Please share your experiences.
