Yes I did. SBC Building inspections. I was pretty happy - I could send you an example of their report. Their report was non committal and kinda wishy washy but in person the guy knew his stuff. Of course if you aren't going to be there maybe it wouldn't be best for you. He did pick up the same pest issues as the pest guy so I'm not convinced the pest guy was worth it - feel free to PM for more details.
Most building and pest reports are wishy washy. The standard line is pretty much "further investigation required." Due to the litigious times we live in the tradespeople need to protect themselves from potential law suits if something is missed.
I always advise that clients are present during the inspections or at least on site for the last 10 minutes to meet with the tradespeople so that any issues can be explained verbally in layman's terms. Sometimes what they uncover sounds a LOT worse in the written report.
