Termites inspection report ..pls advise

I have just received an inspection report for a low set townhouse in Brisbane South. The pest inspection did not find any live termites or damage in the building but could only find termites in one of the boundary gardens under some bark. Is this something I need to be concerned. The building is about 20 years old and is brick construction. Can any of the experts give some valuable advise. Cheers

does the property have some form of termite barrier or baiting system?

Termites in timber around the property is pretty standard stuff.....

Im no expert but have looked at 10-20 building and pest reports in SEQ over the years.

Almost all of them found some termites in surrounding land somewhere. One was in a tree in the backyard, a few in the mulch, one over the road etc.

The point is termites are in the ground - lots of them. In QLD they are far more prevalent and aggressive than in VIC.

If there is no evidence of damage or live workings in the house then its clear.

So from what you have said there doesn't appear to be a reason to pull out of the purchase.

You should definitely look at preventative treatment options for lowest houses, or at lease regular checkups. (and move the bark away from the house if its up against the bricks)

Investigate what the Body corporate has done about the termite prevention work, a call to the manager or a look at the minutes/records will help with this. Common that termites are found near or around the garden.
