Wall Vent Seal

Are there any off the shelf cavity closers/vent seals to to enclose the large wall vents on brick walls near gas points in old houses? (I dont use a gas heater anymore)

I found one on ebay but i dont think it will fit. Even if it does fit, how effective are they of stopping the winter drafts compared to bricking in the hole? (sometimes in winter the vent blows out of the wall onto the floor during strong winds)

I'd be careful enclosing them if you haven't had the gas point removed. Would be a terrible accident if someone got carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you got a flued heater its fine if not dont block them.

In all fairness you can block them up no dramas, I did fine and its soo much better

I am going to cut a piece of gyprock, paint it the wall color and enclose the vent but put a handle on it so you can remove it when you use the heater
