What do people think of Internet Explorer 7?

The tabs are nice - brings it up to par with Firefox.

Thanks for that Acey, everytime I've read that statement I've actually LOL'ed for real.

Let me tell you how good IE7 is compared to Firefox. More often than not, when trying to view Live (a Microsoft product) using IE7 (another Microsoft product) via the *right click on Messenger ---> My Email Inbox* it wouldn't work. Never had that problem with Firefox. Once.

All I can say is thank goodness that there are people out there that believe in quality software - an ideal sorely lacking in Redmond.

Well, let me say thanks to Acey for the link for the download. Hubby thought he would do a nice thing & install it for me. I HATE IT!!!!!:( :( How can I get the nice IE6 that I was used to back? I am not that computer literate & really hate changes, especially when all the bits on the toolbars are in different spots & the icons are different.

Internet Explorer 7 Upgrade to a whole new set of Problems

IE6 is finally stable(?) after 6 years of post release development.
IE7 Beta test releases bombed thousands of times in the first months
IE7 has had a number of security updates released already to remove 'undocumented features' vulnerabilities
better to wait, till the major bluescreens are worked out.

IE5 wasnt much good till IE5.5 then it was replaced with IE6

IE6 was useless till IE6 SP1 was released, then it was replaced

IE7 crashes, wait for the update

After all this debate and comment, I think I'll wait a bit before downloading IE7....it obviously has teething probs, so I'll wait till after it's a teenager.:)

Well I'm glad to say that I've had no problems with IE7 :)

I use Firefox, Netscape 7.1, Opera and AOL's browser (IE6-based but with tabs) as well for testing and general browsing, but have generally found in the last four years that IE does the job more consistently.

Anyone else ever play with WorldWideWeb btw, or am I showing my age?

Cheers,

Had to unload it too skater....
Here's how......
Go into change remove programs via control panel.....and tick the box at top "show updates"....then you should see internet explorer 7 listed and available for removal...

I came across a tip to speed up Firefox, this afternoon. I thought I would share it with you guys:
  1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return.
  2. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining, network.http.proxy.pipelining, network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
  3. Alter the entries as follows: Set network.http.pipelining to true. Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true. Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
  4. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New —> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Thankyou very much for that TFB.

Came home and Skater had changed back to version 6. She was very pleased with herself too.

I won't be touching it again :D

Good review btw

Is this going to be an Apple vs Windows thing :)

If so I will find it extremely amusing.

All those people believing there is only one 'right' way......

Okay, so I just installed Firefox 2. Have been using it for about 3 minutes (literally) and already it's about ten kajillion times better than IE7. Mozilla has from the beginning - and always will be in my opinion - millions of miles ahead of Microsoft in usability and awesomeness.

You can spell check posts in Firefox 2! Wicked! As far as I'm concerned, IE is dead in the water. I predict that Firefox will continue to steadily take people away from IE, because it quite simply is just that much better.

Hi All,

After reading this thread, i thought i would download Firefox 2...........

WOW:D :)

It is so much quicker and hasn't crashed yet, where as IE would crash at least once a day.

Cheers,
