Sim Administrator 15th Jan, 2003 #2 Were you accessing the chatroom from the forum (using web browser) ? Or from mIRC ? The link to the chatroom from the forum is there, on the main page up in the top right hand corner.

Sim Administrator 15th Jan, 2003 #4 No, not the home button. Click on the "Somersoft" logo in the top left hand corner of this page. It will take you back to the forum home page. Otherwise go to this link (it's the same thing): http://www.somersoft.com/forums That's what I mean by the main forum page. You must be logged in to the forum to be able to see it, but I'm guessing you are because you can post messages !

Peter_Tersteeg 16th Jan, 2003 #6 Hi Sim, I'm also having trouble getting into the chat room. The error message is telling be that the client can't connect to the server. This was using the forums' java client. I also tried to connect using chatzilla (part of mozilla browser) and got the same result.

Click to expand... Nope, the java client is downloaded and executes on your own computer - so it needs to be able to connect back to the server to be able to chat. Most common problems are firewalls and proxy servers. PT_Bear: do you have a firewall ? do you use a proxy server ? what is your ISP ? You may also like to try mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/) - it has good support for connecting to the chat servers through proxy servers and such.

Peter_Tersteeg 16th Jan, 2003 #9 DOH !!! {PT_Bear slaps himself with a wet fish as he remembers the company's put in a new firewall} Good point guys. I really should have thought of that. I'll give it a shot from home tonight and reply if there's still a problem. Last edited: 16th Jan, 2003
