Who pays for repairs

Hi,

We had an air conditioner repaired recently and in the process a foot was put through the ceiling, in this case I will be repairing it as it was my brother in law doing the job for free but normally who would be resonsible for the repair?

Normally the damage would be covered by the contractor's insurance and that would pay for the repairs.

Sometimes using a mate isn't the cheapest option!

The tradesman carrying out the work will usually have a public liability insurance policy that they are able to claim on in a case such as this.
