You know you're obsessed with property when...

You see a program on telly entitled 'IP Man' and, for a slit second, you wonder if it's about Investment Properties.

You see an old house in a good street and start an investigation into who owns it.

The first question you want to ask new friends is how much they paid for their house :D

You whittle away hours looking at your properties on a spread sheet, tweaking numbers in a 'what if' scenario, with a serene smile on your face.

When your friend invites you along to their new place they've just bought and you start talking about valuation, tax deductions and depreciation instead of pointing out the brand new fittings.

When someone you've never met, who works on another floor at your work, rings you and asks you if they can come and have a chat about an ip purchase they are considering.

Hehe not exactly sure what help I was going to be...

....but rest assured - the obsession does eventually fade if you are in the property game long enough.

We found it starts to fade once the passive income generated that is needed to sustain your lifestyle is reached. Once you reach that point....the "freedom" bit, it all gets a bit ho-hum

Winding your way up that staircase however, looking for shortcuts to get to the summit quicker, yep, that's the intoxicating bit.

When you spend most of your Sunday on re.com.au, home opens, display homes and thinking about which bank to ask for the next loan and prepare for tomorrows events of cheaply renovating a property in the hope of lifting the rent.

you go for a walk down the beach and ignore the beautiful ocean and stare longingly at the waterfront properties instead
