Sydney is turning into a ghetto as poor are trapped by fewer jobs and rising housing

    So you made me check the Sydney Trains trip planner and it showed me the following from Monday morning at 6:00AM Woy Woy to Town Hall: Leave - Arrive - Travel Time 6:14 - 7:35 1hr 21m 6:32 - 7:48 1hr 16m 6:47 - 8:03 1hr 16m 7:02 - 8:18 1hr 16m 7:17 - 8:33 1hr 16m 7:32 - 8:48 1hr 16m 7:47 -...

Sydney is turning into a ghetto as poor are trapped by fewer jobs and rising housing

I think you mean around 2 hrs, from memory Town Hall to Woy Woy stations is 1.5 hrs on peak hr trains, then you have walking/ car/bus trip time at either end. About 1 hr gets you to Berowra or St Marys or Liverpool in train travel, then you add travel time at either end. Still in traffic there...

Will the Sydney median house price reach $1 million by the end of 2015?

I voted no on this back then but I think I was wrong, it may well hit 1m!

    Hornsby or Castle Hill

The Northconnex is an interesting one. If you are looking to use the Pacific Highway to get to work etc the Northconnex is a bad thing, if looking to use Pennant Hills road its a good thing. If using the tunnel itself it will be good to get onto the M2 to head West, not so good to head to the...

How long did it take you to save for your first property?

7 years including an amount set aside as a buffer in case I lost my job (single income).

Sydney prices " go through the roof " - ABC 24

HA! No, not Turramurra or Water st. I am talking around the catchment of the tunnel entrances and stack only, including the Normanhurst side where they are going to do a lot of road development. I am doubtful that the stack will cause any grief to sellers on the Wahroonga side of the freeway...

Sydney prices " go through the roof " - ABC 24

I've been sniffing for a bargain around the Northconnex affected areas in the North Shore catchment and I am surprised that none of the buyers I spoke to seem to have any idea that the road is going in or the stack. The agents sure aren't telling buyers either ;) One agent got really annoyed...

Where to buy 650K in Sydney

I have consistently used stations in the CBD, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore and Northern lines at all hours for 30 years, they've been perfectly safe for me. Even late most of the time there are still plenty of others on the trains. I have noticed though that the Western and inner west lines seem...

    North Connex

That was one of the options for the old M2-F3 corridor that is now the NorthConnex, its gone forever with the building of the chosen alignment under Pennant Hills road and the selling off of the reservation at North Ryde for high rise.

    PPOR in Sydney Nth Shore

Agree with this, obviously the upper North Shore is known for its large blocks with stately homes, private schools and more affluent sort of lifestyle while still retaining good access to the city and lower North Shore but its acesss to the newer employment areas like Macquarie Park and...

    PPOR in Sydney Nth Shore

Ah! I understand you now, I was wondering where you were starting from. I wouldnt have thought it would take that long actually. I must be a fast driver! I do that in under 10 from the Wahroonga shops but not via the Commenara from there of course. I can do the CBD to Gordon in around 20 minutes...

    IP in Campsie/Belmore/Wileypark

Campsie has really become part of the "inner west" in the eyes of many. Dont you dare tell buyers there they are part of Bankstown! :p There are still bargains to be found but the newer stuff seems to pull good money now.

    PPOR in Sydney Nth Shore

That seems strange. Someone is doing something very wrong if it takes them longer (even via the Commenara) to drive to Wahroonga than Pennant Hills.
