what do you use your frequent flyer points on?

Caltex cards for fuel for summer bike trips. Does that count? Oh and once I bought some perfume.

Insurance companies not paying out unless fixed term lease in place??

I just checked my CGU policies. They state 'A current Rental Agreement is a condition of Rent Default and Theft by Tenant covers'. I'm assuming this means that periodical tenancy is not covered?

    Cost of vacate clean

Cleaning! Don't get me started! (Well, going to anyway) My partner Rod and I moved to Townsville a few years ago and rented a property. Nice 2 bed 2 storey townhouse. It was up for rent as the owner was very sick and had moved into hospital for a long term stay. The property was not very...

I've decided not to get married or have children .. Is that ok?

We are so lucky to live in a time and place where we are able to make such a choice. Well, most of us, anyway. Wow PT Bear, what a powerful story. I can't say much except I'm very humbled to have read your post.

What an amazing difference - pics

That's a big difference! A prospective tenant should look at that and think their furniture would look good in the renovated room.

How can we help our son to choose what he wants to do at uni?

He is an average student, with study he could have been doing much better. He has a quick brain, but he is lazy, and my other concern is having gone through school with minimal work and almost no study, whether uni would be a huge shock to him. He has worked hard this year, but until this year...

For those that RENT - How long does it take you to find somewhere?

Hi Anon, Me and my partner renting also. It's been about 4 years all up now, and we've been in 3 rental properties. Moving into each rental has been because we have moved towns (and twice moved states) with timing of the move dictating each time that we get the closest fit to our criteria NOW...

NSW title insurance - what is this?

Hi Jake and Dave, thanks for your replies - it sounds like cheap insurance for a lot of peace of mind. Expenses like that quest apartment would put a huge hole in an investment budget - if not skittle it altogether and more. The buildings on the block (house and garage) both have council...

NSW title insurance - what is this?

Hello forum members, I've only recently joined, and am finding this form hugely interesting and often entertaining, so many people with so much experience. I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me out with a query. My partner and I live in Victoria, and have a couple of IP's in...

How much do I need in Retirement

IMHO I agree completely. I would rather involve my son in what we are doing and encourage him to do the same than just 'give' him the fruits of my labour. I know it's a bit off the original thread, but my partner and I recently went looking for property in Melbourne, and took my 22yo son (who...

    Why do you do it?

Wow. What a great thread. So e very thought provoking messages. For me, the main reason is because I've always loved houses. Wanted to do architecture at uni, but got talked into doing commerce. Maybe a good thing, as now I can work the numbers. I can't imagine a time when I won't work (ie...
