1 bedroom reno cost?

Just curious as to what people have spent on 1 bedroom reno's.

I am considering buying a unit that would need complete renovation.

I estimate 15-20k should cover new floor, kitchen, bathroom, and paint and other fittings.

I will be doing all labour myself with my brother.

any feedback would be great.

That seems about right, but it’s hard to give any feed back with out knowing the current state of the building and what level of finish you're after.

I’m in the middle of renovating a 2br apartment and have finished everything except the bathroom and spent around $9k

Approximate costs so far

$3,700 kitchen cupboards self installed, stone benches installed professionally
$900 stainless steel oven, gas cook top, dishwasher (these were found cheap over time using auction site such as graysonline
$750 plumber (including sink and mixer)
$600 electrician
$250 kitchen splashback glass feature tiles
$1,900 30sqm tiles laid
$400 25sqm carpet laid (got lucky with this one)

And the rest of the budget on paint, tools, doors, handles, lights, blinds skirting and other consumables.

I agree with Carlin that would be a juicy budget to start with. I did a 2br unit reno without redoing bathroom - replacing everything even light switches for $14k. That was paying someone to do all the work as well ( except making the curtains and sourcing).

With that budget I think you will surprise yourself on what is possible.

If the renovation is for resell, I suggest not spending more then 10% of your purchase price.
