14% term deposit

discovered a bank ( international ) offering 14% return on term deposits.had deposited 10.000 for test and has been 7 months now and all good.fellow somersofties If you need location shot a pm.not advertising just helping.

Being that its in another country how do you set up an account there and provide ID etc

What happens if their currency falls by more than 14% relative to ours?

What about the depreciating Australian dollar its already depreciated 14% against $US and predicted to go down another 10%.

It comes down to how much risk are you prepared to bear? Currency risk $US vs $AU; bank failure (not all banking systems are as strong as the Australian Banking system), international tax law (if investing overseas to international bank), security issues (are the bank's IT systems as secure as those of local banks) etc?

Hi Negt

Did you invest for 12 months?

Keep us posted on how it all goes and when converting back

I'm surprised people entertain this offer seriously.
Icelandic banks were offering ridiculously high rates on Swiss francs in Switzerland before the GFC. Look what happened to them.
