Acid sulfate soils area

Is this overlay a big concern on already constructed dwellings? Understand there may be certain requirements if constructing on land that has this constraints. But do you guys consider ACID SULFATE SOILS AREA as a huge negative?

Hi Holmes2012

As stated by others, it's a pretty common overlay, and not a big deal.

Implications of Acid Sulfate Soils overlay are:
  • What Scott said - i.e. if you want to excavate to put in a pool for example, the process has to be managed a certain way (wetting down I think)
  • Irrigation systems tend to have a shorter life-span of around 7 years, which could be costly for those who are replacing them
  • More difficult for plants to grow and to establish a garden in these soils

Cheers

Jen
