Asbestos

A house we are interested in buying is brick foundation up to one metre, and the rest of the external walls are fibro cladding.

It appears to all be in good condition- painted etc - except there is a hole about 30cm diameter.

Asbestos houses --- Avoid? Repairable? Can a non-asbestos fibro be attached (glued?) over the hole?

If you're going to try and avoid houses with asbestos be prepared to avoid anything built 25+ years ago. Asbestos is not dangerous unless disturbed, so as long as you seal the hole and don't go drilling into the walls, you'll be fine.
If you're not going to cover the hole, you should at least paint the exposed edges so that the asbestos fibres don't become airborne.

Thanks for your comment. We are trying to decide about newer homes to get depreciation and not much maintenance versus: older homes to cosmetically Reno. He catch is there's no newer homes in our price bracket. So old it is.

On our current IP we need an asbestos panel cut to match the front facade. Does anyone cut it these days? There are no matching profiles anywhere.

... And we have a sheet of the matching fibro under the house we could cut to match.
