Australian citizenship

Hi

Does anyone know what happens if you let go of Australian citizenship? Will it be easy to apply for PR status in the future again?
A friend has applied for citizenship a few years ago and she didn't know that her original country didn't allow dual citizenship.

^ as above from daniellee. Most of the time they don't find out. Just don't do stupid things like use the Australian passport to travel to the home country. Is this Malaysia? I know lots of people who have forfeited their Australian PR/citizenship because of this and have regretted it afterwards because the requirements to get a PR (and citizenship) get more difficult every year.

Hi,

Just tell your friend to stay mum about the dual citizenship and everything will be fine back home.

Regards,

Daniel

Actually, no, no it won't.

Relying on such advise from someone on a property forum is crazy.

no offence to the advice givers - but your friend potentially risks being in a difficult position if he/she gets it wrong.

Ring 131 880 and get correct advice.

There are ways to resume Australian citizenship, however depends on the circumstances when you lost it.
