Best Live Act seen.

Van Halen in Canberra on the Australian tour 1998 - incredible.

Joe Satriani at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney in 2006 - amazing.

G3 in Canberra last year - stunning.

But then, I have a thing for electric guitar virtuosos.

I have a thing for guitar as well, and Edward Van Halen is a freak, but until I saw Dave Matthews Band, I didnt know how good a band could sound in concert... incredible production. Incredible band. See/listen for yourself

Jethro Tull Auckland August 1974
An absolutely top show for a 14 year old fan.
My friends and I called out to them at the stage door afterwards but couldn't understand why they ignored us while climbing into a waiting Rolls Royce with some scantily clad girls. We youngsters didn't know about the rock star life back then.

Hard to pick one performance of a band (Tea Party at the Enmore? Janes Addiction at the Kentish Town Forum? Groove Rider at the Metro?), but the most memorable crowd experience without a doubt was Rage Against the Machine at the 2008 BDO. I think Bjork had cancelled so there was no competing big act and EVERYONE was packed into the arena. Sound wasn't great but when they played Killing in the Name there must have been 30,000 people jumping up and down in unison with their middle fingers extended :)

Two lists, two genre's

David Bowie - multiple
Stevie Nicks - Gold Coast
Rolling Stones - Brisy
Brian Ferry - NZ
Queen - NZ
Dire Straight's - NZ x 2
Art Garfunkel - Gold Coast

And

JC Superstar - the concert (Australian version - this was timeless and breathtaking)
Les Mis - Gold Coast Arts
Phantom of the Opera - Las Vegas

My favourite band is 'Irrelevant" however they broke up a long while ago, and re-formed recently for a few shows. There older shows were better, made great by the crowd participation as well. Probably not most peoples cup o tea, however - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X-49rEWWG8

'One Dollar Short' were always a great gig. again, the crowd gets into it - older gig - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20FeKDwCKIA

I haven't been to many *huge* gigs, as I mostly liked smaller gigs, but Foo Fighters are always great.

Well...I didn't get to go (too young) but I really like Nirvana live on VHS and now DVD...

I wish I had have been able to see Queen and Michael Jackson.

Divinyls at the Raffles in Applecross WA circa 1985 - Chrissie Amphlett RIP. Wow, she was spectacular!!
Yes Divinyls were great in small venues, saw them in several in Sydney in the early 90s. She used to stage dive, held her up the air once.

Dave Matthews Band, I didn't know how good a band could sound in concert... incredible production. Incredible band.

I'm in my late sixtys, and this band is the best I've ever heard over many years of enjoying music. Never seen them live, but they are a truly talented bunch of musos.

Has anyone seen a live performance from Gary Moore? He's another great guitarist to add to the list.

Amy

I saw my favourite band play Tuesday night - Yellowcard. First set was an acoustic version of their first album released 10 years ago which was awesome and second set was a few of their newer songs done non-acoustically and that was even more awesome - so much energy from the band and you could tell they were really enjoying themselves.

Though not so much fun getting home after 2am and then getting up for work at 6am with a full day of work ahead.

anyone seen springsteen this tour? there have been rave reviews and friends were saying how good wednesday was (best concert ever etc), so i went to last nights show... disappointed to be honest. if this was the idea of someones best concert they need to get out more. the track selection was shocking and when they finally got to some decent songs they had full lighting on, whilst they progressed thru about 7 songs in the artifical daylight... it felt like closing time at the walkbout. to think i could have flogged the ticket for 500 bucks and gone and watched a good movie instead is annoying

The footage of the concert on the news didn't do anything for me. Someone I know was very excited to be going to Fri and Sat nights concerts. No thanks!!!
