Can you do this?

Hi all
Just curious as to whether you are able to purchase a prop via trust, live in it and rent it from the trust (the rent being the mortgage repayments)?

Some people say you can.

Some people say you're asking for trouble if you do.

Either way, it's definately an advanced idea and you should speak with your accountant. Also do a search on this forum with any of all of these terms 'renting PPOR from trust'.
 
There are also cost implications such as losing the PPOR land tax exemption, paying CGT, yearly accounting costs, more difficult (expensive?) to finance......
