Certificate of Title

Hi Guys,
If I have refinanced a property and discharged a mortgage, what happens to the certificate of title? Does the bank send it to me or what? Little bit green when things start getting technical..

Cheers

I discharged my ppor last year. The bank sent me the discharge papers and their title duplicate copy. I signed the papers and took both to the titles office and paid the discharge of mortgage fee. The titles office then updated their records and printed me out the original hologram title certificate which is now safe here at home.

Hope this helps.

Hi Pulse,
If you have refinanced a property, you will still have a mortgage with the new lender. The new lender will get the title from your old lender at settlement of the refinance and keep it as security.

I did the same had to go to the Titles Office and discharge the mortgage. I have all my titles in the safety deposit box at the solicitors for safe keeping.

Sorry.. refinanced 3 properties, with the mortgage now over two of them, leaving one unemcumbered.
