Deny receipt

Hi Every one

When you open a pm, next to it it has in small read writing, deny receipt. What does this mean?

If it means that you dont want the person who sent it to know that you have read it?

If that was the case, when you go to you pm tracking page, would it show that it hasnt been read even though it has?

Maybe I am totally off track....so what does deny receipt mean?
