Based on UK experience Fast Train links improve property values. A FT program is currently underway in Melbourne linking Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, and Latrobe Valley. Due for completion in 2005.
Regional Fast Rail
The Regional Fast Rail project will provide faster and more frequent rail services between Melbourne and Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and the Latrobe Valley in the biggest upgrade of regional lines in 120 years. As the centrepiece of the Linking Victoria program, the project will also deliver more frequent, reliable and comfortable services through modern trains operating at speeds up to 160 km/h.
